Service, storage & parts

The workshop behind the floor

Every car we sell is prepared in our own bays at Foundry Road, by the same four technicians who look after cars we sold years ago. The room is open to owners whether the car came from us or not — servicing, inspection, detailing, indoor storage, and the parts that are getting hard to find.

What happens in the bays

Everything a car needs between drives

We keep the work we do well in-house and are open about the work we send out. Nothing is sublet quietly, and nothing leaves the building without you knowing where it went.

Scheduled maintenance

Factory service schedules, kept to the interval rather than to the odometer. OEM or specification-equivalent parts, and a stamped record that follows the car.

  • Oil, filters, plugs, belts
  • Brake and clutch fluid
  • Coolant and gearbox fluid
  • Diagnostics and fault tracing

Brakes, tires, geometry

The parts of a fast car that quietly go off long before they fail. Measured on the alignment rack, not judged by eye.

  • Pads, discs, lines, bleeds
  • Four-wheel geometry and corner weights
  • Seasonal tire change and storage
  • Track setup and brake compounds

Inspection and preparation

The same 140-point inspection every car on our floor goes through, available to owners and to buyers of cars sold elsewhere.

  • Pre-purchase inspection, written and photographed
  • Pre-delivery preparation
  • Safety standards certificate
  • Road-ready check before storage exit

Detailing and protection

Done over days, not hours, in a lit booth with the wheels off. Paint is measured before anything touches it.

  • Paint depth reading and correction
  • Paint protection film
  • Ceramic coating and annual top-up
  • Leather, Alcantara and trim care

Work we send out

Engine-out work, gearbox rebuilds, structural repair and paint go to named marque specialists we have used for years. We tell you who is doing it and what it costs before the car moves, we transport it there and back ourselves, and the invoice comes from us — so there is one person to call if something is not right.

Annual care

Three ways to keep a car properly

Plans exist because scheduled work is cheaper than remembered work. Each one covers labor and the routine consumables; anything beyond that is quoted and approved before it happens.

For a car that is driven

Essential care

$1,450 per year

The annual service and the checks around it, booked ahead so the date is already in the diary.

  • Annual service — oil, filters, fluid levels
  • Two wheel-off inspections a year
  • Brake fluid on the factory interval
  • Seasonal tire change, tires stored here
  • Battery and charging health check
  • Priority booking within five working days

Most owners choose this

Collection care

$3,900 per year

For a car that is used seriously, shown occasionally, and expected to be right every time it is asked for.

Everything in Essential care, plus:

  • Two services a year instead of one
  • Four-wheel geometry check annually
  • Two full details, ceramic topped up
  • Photographed condition report each visit
  • Collection and return within 25 miles
  • Loan car included for any visit over a day
  • Booking honored within 24 hours

Kept here

The vault

$9,600 per year · storage included

The car lives in the climate-controlled room and is delivered to you when you want it. Twelve months of storage is in the price.

Everything in Collection care, plus:

  • Indoor climate-controlled storage, 12 months
  • Trickle charge and tire-flat prevention
  • Monthly exercise drive and written report
  • Insured at agreed value while stored
  • Delivered to your door on 24 hours’ notice
  • One enclosed transport a year within New York State

Plan prices cover labor and routine consumables and exclude parts, tires and applicable taxes. Billed annually or monthly, cancelable with 30 days’ notice, and transferable to the next owner if the car is sold.

Storage in the vault is subject to space. Cars stored on a plan are covered at an agreed value confirmed in writing before the car is accepted.

Maintenance

What a car like this actually needs

Low mileage is not the same as low wear. Most of what goes wrong with a stored or lightly-used exotic is time-based, and almost all of it is cheap to prevent.

Guide intervals for a lightly-driven modern exotic — your car’s own schedule takes precedence
ItemIntervalWhy it matters
Engine oil and filter12 monthsOr the factory mileage, whichever comes first. Short trips contaminate oil faster than distance does.
Brake fluid24 monthsFluid absorbs moisture whether the car moves or not. This is a time job, never a mileage one.
Coolant4 yearsInhibitors break down and start attacking alloy. Cheap to change, expensive to ignore.
Gearbox or clutch fluid37,000 milesDual-clutch units are sensitive to fluid condition long before they show symptoms.
Tires6 yearsFrom the date code, regardless of tread depth. Aged rubber is the single most common fault we find.
Battery and chargeContinuousAnything parked more than two weeks belongs on a maintainer. Modern cars never fully sleep.
Four-wheel geometryAnnuallyAnd immediately after any curb strike. A tenth of a degree eats a set of front tires.
Air conditioning3 yearsSeals dry out on cars that sit. A regas is minor; a compressor is not.
Ceramic or film2 – 3 yearsInspected annually, topped up before it fails rather than after.

How a visit works

You approve the number before we pick up a tool

The estimate is written, photographed and itemised. If we find something else once the car is up, the car stops and the phone rings — there is no such thing as a surprise on the final invoice.

Storage

A room, not a container

Forty-two cars sit behind one door at Foundry Road, at a steady 18°C and 45% humidity, on a monitored floor with the cars we own. Nothing is stacked, nothing is sheeted over dust, and nothing is moved without a note in the file.

  • Climate held, not guessedTemperature and humidity logged continuously, with an alert if either drifts.
  • Charged and rotatedTrickle charge throughout, tires relieved monthly, an exercise drive when the weather allows.
  • Insured at agreed valueCover confirmed in writing before the car is accepted, with your own policy noted alongside.
  • Yours on noticeTwenty-four hours to have it prepared, warmed and waiting — or delivered to your door.

Tell us what it is and what it is doing

A real person reads every one of these. You will hear back within one business day with a date, an estimate range, and a sensible question or two if something is unclear.

Success
Getting it to us

What to bring

  • Both keys, including the spare
  • Wheel lock key, if it has one
  • Service book or previous invoices

Helpful if you have it

  • Tracker fob and disarm code
  • Film or ceramic history
  • Any inspection report from a previous owner
  • Tire storage details, if they are elsewhere

If it is not drivable

Do not risk it. We will send a flatbed anywhere in New York State and quote it before it rolls — recovery is far cheaper than the damage a limped-home car arrives with.

Parts

Including the ones that are hard to find

We buy through factory supply for current models and through a network of marque specialists, dismantlers and auction contacts for everything else. If a part exists somewhere, we will usually find it — and we will tell you honestly when it does not.

  • Current OEMService parts, consumables and fluids, ordered against your VIN so the part number is right the first time.
  • Superseded and NLAOut-of-production items traced through specialists and dismantlers, with condition photographed before we buy.
  • Concours correctDate-coded and finish-correct components where originality matters more than availability.
  • Wheels and rubberOriginal and period-correct wheels, refinishing, and tires in sizes the local shop cannot get.
  • Trim, glass and lensesThe cosmetic parts that quietly decide what a car is worth on the day it sells.
  • Supplied looseOwners doing their own work are welcome to buy parts from us without booking the car in.

Questions owners ask

Before you book it in

If something here is not covered, the service desk will answer it plainly on the phone — including the answers that are not in our favor.

Do I have to have bought the car from you?

No. Roughly half the cars in the bays on any given week were bought somewhere else, and a good number of them belong to people who have never bought a car from us at all. The work, the rate and the booking priority are the same either way.

The only thing being a customer changes is that we already hold the car’s history, which occasionally saves an hour of diagnosis.

Which cars do you actually work on?

Modern exotic and performance cars — broadly, the German, British and Italian machinery we sell day to day, plus most collector cars from the last forty years.

We would rather turn a car away than learn on it. If it is outside what we know, we will tell you on the phone and, where we can, point you at the specialist we would use ourselves.

Will servicing here affect my manufacturer warranty?

Having a car serviced outside the franchise network does not by itself void a manufacturer warranty, provided the work follows the factory schedule and uses parts of the correct specification. We keep a stamped record and retain the invoices and parts numbers, which is what a manufacturer asks for if a claim is ever questioned.

Warranty terms vary by manufacturer and by market, so check your own booklet — and if a car is under an extended or approved-used plan, call us first and we will read the terms with you rather than guess.

How long will you have the car?

A service is usually a day. Brakes, geometry and inspections are typically one to two. Detailing and protection work runs three to five days because it is done in stages and paint needs time between them.

Anything longer is because a part is coming from abroad, and you will know that on day one rather than day ten.

Can you store a car you did not sell me?

Yes, subject to space — the room holds forty-two cars and is usually close to full through the winter, so book early. Minimum term is three months, and the car needs current insurance and a clean bill of health from an inspection before it goes in.

Storage can be taken on its own at $420 a month, or as part of the vault plan, which folds in the servicing and the exercise drives.

Do you do paint and bodywork?

Not in-house. Paint and structural repair go to a specialist we have used for years, and we handle the transport, the inspection on return and the invoice. Correction, protection film and ceramic work we do here.

Can you inspect a car I am thinking of buying elsewhere?

Yes, and we do it often. The 140-point inspection is $850, includes a written and photographed report, and takes about four hours. If the seller will not release the car for a day, that is worth knowing on its own.

The report is yours. We do not share it with the seller, and we will not tell you a car is fine to be polite.

Service desk

Book it before it needs booking

The cheapest work we do is the work that was scheduled. Tell us the car and roughly when it last had attention, and we will tell you what it is due, what it is not, and what it will cost.
